BELLYACHE BAKERY

Bellyache Bakery aims to destigmatize mental health, in a non-threatening and interactive way. It does so by educating others and provide resources to those in need. It also aims to spread the message of open-mindedness. Each of these cakes comes with a description of the psychological concept they are based on and additional resources. 10% of the profits will be donated to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.

MY STORY

My name is Stella Rao, and this is my side hustle, Bellyache Bakery, which is based in Cupertino.

My parents immigrated from India to the Bay Area before I was born. Growing up, societal pressure and genetic factors led me to struggle with anxiety and depression.

In 10th grade, I faced nerve damage in my wrists. My strength had been what defined me, made me feel respected, and helped me cope with my anxiety. In the next chapter of my life, I chose to educate myself by studying psychology.

This is also when I discovered baking.
